Selective Color

This is often called “selective coloring.” You need a photos that has a colorful subject that has a solid shape (trees would be very difficult!). Please no photos of posters, artwork, or other flat things!

Photoshop Instructions:

  1. Open the photo in Photoshop. File>Open
  2. Add the Black and White adjustment layer.
  3. Select the brush tool by Press the  “B” for brush.
  4. Make sure your foreground color and background color are black and white.
  5. Use the appropriate size brush and hardness to do a very good job painting in the color you want make.
  6. When using the brush, The white on the mask completely reveals the texture layer. The black on the mask completely conceals the layer, and the gray makes the layer partially visible. Have FUN!
