Welcome!

Welcome to the Digital Photography program at McFatter Technical College. You are enrolled in a competency-based program designed to provide you with the entry level skills necessary to pursue a career in Professional Photography. This program not only gives you the opportunity to acquire the required State Competencies, but the challenge of progressing to advanced levels.

Digital Photography is a ten-month course that focuses on understanding the basic operations and functions of a digital single lens reflex camera and the manipulation of its settings to achieve a specific result. Students will learn about photographic elements of art and principles of design, composition, lighting and video. Students learn image techniques and digital manipulation using Adobe Photoshop and or Lightroom, teaching them how to archive, organize and optimize their photographs for print or web purposes. Students will learn how to manage and creatively alter digital images as well as critically analyze the use of visual media as a means of communication in our society today. Students will explore the significance of photography within the larger context of the art word and learn about the critical and varied application it has to the modern working world.

Before we get started there are a couple of things we need to take care of. As a new student, you are required to read and acknowledge the Student Handbook. Then follow these instructions on how to access your Focus Account (this is the grade book), and complete the online verification process in the Focus system.
